Grounds Specialist – School District (2026‑2027)

About the role

The District Grounds Specialist will support and enhance grounds maintenance across all campuses of the Tupelo Public School District for the 2026‑2027 school year. The role combines expertise in turfgrass management, horticulture, irrigation, and landscape planning to ensure safe, attractive, and functional outdoor environments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement district‑wide grounds standards and seasonal maintenance schedules.
• Evaluate campuses, recommend improvement plans, and oversee fertilization, aeration, overseeding, and soil programs.
• Monitor and assist with irrigation systems and diagnose turf and plant health issues.
• Collaborate with the district support team on equipment planning, lifecycle recommendations, and storm‑response activities.
• Provide mentorship, training, and safety compliance for grounds personnel.
• Support district‑wide events and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Turfgrass Management, Horticulture, Agronomy, Plant & Soil Science, Landscape Management, or a related field.
• 3‑5 years of professional grounds or landscape management experience preferred.
• Valid Mississippi driver’s license.
• Pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain within two months.
