About the role
The Financial Aid Counselor provides comprehensive guidance to students and parents on financial aid options while managing the awarding and monitoring of scholarships, grants, and loans. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations and supports students throughout the aid process.
Key responsibilities
- Assist students with FAFSA, loan applications, and entrance/exit counseling.
- Determine eligibility and award scholarships, tuition waivers, and financial aid packages.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of financial aid policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Process and input financial aid data using specialized software systems.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure accurate aid disbursement and monitor student GPA, enrollment status, and completion rates.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree.
- At least 2 years of experience in financial aid, higher education, or a related field (preferred).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Financial aid system certifications.
Required skills
- Proficiency with financial aid management software systems.
- Strong data entry and management abilities with attention to detail.
