Elementary Prep Time Specialist (PE)

About the role

The Elementary Prep Time Specialist supports Heritage Elementary by delivering instruction and supervising students during teacher preparation periods. Working under the principal’s guidance, the specialist prepares lesson plans and classroom materials across a range of specialized subjects such as music, art, science, computer operations, media center use, physical education, languages, and health.

Key responsibilities

• Teach and supervise students during designated preparation time.
• Develop and implement lesson plans and required materials for specialized subject areas.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to align instruction with school curriculum.
• Maintain a safe and engaging learning environment.
• Track student progress and provide feedback.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree or two years of post‑secondary education preferred.
• Formal training or education in a specialized subject area is advantageous.
• Strong interpersonal skills for interaction with students, teachers, and staff.
• Ability to effectively teach assigned subjects.
• Experience working with children is preferred but not required.

What we offer

• 3.83 teaching hours per day, 174 days per year.
• Hourly wage of $19.60 (Salary Grade 6) with a minimum 5% increase upon promotion.
