Electrical Engineering Technician – Contract

About the role

Sesame is developing a compact wearable machine‑perception system that integrates custom electronics, sensors and mechanical components. The company seeks an experienced Electrical Engineering Technician to assemble, debug and maintain prototype and evaluation hardware in its San Francisco lab.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble, test, debug and rework compact electro‑mechanical systems, including fine‑pitch soldering, paste/reflow, custom cables and sub‑centimeter enclosures.
• Operate and maintain electrical test equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, DMMs, spectrum analyzers and compliance testers.
• Develop and document build and debug procedures for prototypes.
• Run and troubleshoot automated component test and data‑collection systems.
• Coordinate with fabrication vendors to source PCBs, PCBAs and metal/plastic parts.
• Manage lab space, equipment, supplies and inventory.

Required profile

• 5+ years hands‑on experience in consumer electronics or a related field.
• Proficiency with fine‑pitch soldering and reflow (down to 01005/QFN/BGA 300 µm pitch).
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Experience operating benchtop test equipment and executing electrical test plans.
• Basic understanding of firmware or software test scripts.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, strong attention to detail and proactive problem‑solving.
