Distribution Manager

About the role

CooperVision is seeking a Distribution Manager to lead all aspects of order processing and day‑to‑day operations in a highly automated 250,000‑sq‑ft distribution facility. This full‑time, onsite position reports to senior logistics leadership and is responsible for operational excellence, process improvement, and talent development.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of exempt and non‑exempt employees, ensuring smooth workflow, productivity, and adherence to Good Distribution Practices, SOPs, and ISO standards.
• Develop and maintain distribution workflows, inventory integrity, and departmental planning while managing carrier relationships and contract negotiations.
• Drive continuous improvement using Lean tools (VSM, 5S, Gemba), cost/ROI analysis, and cross‑functional projects to reduce expenses and enhance customer satisfaction.
• Partner with logistics, supply chain, and finance to create and manage operating budgets, P&L, and annual forecasts.
• Oversee talent management activities including hiring, performance reviews, training, and professional development.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of supervisory or management experience in a distribution or warehouse environment.
• Four to six years of direct experience in distribution operations, preferably within an FDA‑ and ISO‑regulated setting.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; export compliance certification required for international responsibilities.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint proficiency.
• Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (e.g., JDA/RedPrairie, BAAN, Oracle).
• Knowledge of Lean process tools such as Value Stream Mapping, 5S, and Gemba walks.
• Project management capabilities.
