Director, Operational Risk & Controls & Compliance Quality Assurance

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a senior leader to head the Operational Risk & Controls (ORC) Quality Assurance function. Reporting to the SVP of Operational Risk & Controls, the Director will oversee compliance testing across key regulatory domains and support the execution of the company’s operational risk strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Compliance Quality Assurance team (4‑5 analysts/managers) and set the strategic direction for testing across AML, sanctions, anti‑bribery, export controls and business conduct.
• Design and govern a risk‑based testing framework that provides independent assurance to senior leadership.
• Support the SVP in implementing and overseeing core elements of Mastercard’s operational risk framework and program.
• Document findings, drive remediation actions, and ensure alignment with global risk policies.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in compliance, with a proven record of leading compliance QA programs.
• Strong background in operational risk management within a large, second‑line‑of‑defense environment.
• Deep knowledge of compliance testing methodologies and risk‑based assessment practices.
