Director, Commercial Lines Actuarial (Hybrid/Remote)

About the role

The Director, Commercial Lines Actuarial leads pricing strategy and actuarial analysis for MAPFRE’s Commercial Auto, Businessowners Policy (BOP) and Commercial Package Policy (CPP) portfolios. The role works closely with underwriting, product, finance, claims, data, IT and senior management to drive profitable growth, sound rate levels and timely rate filings while managing a team of two actuarial analysts.

Key responsibilities

• Lead pricing strategy and actuarial analysis for Commercial Auto, BOP and CPP lines.
• Evaluate loss trends, expenses, investment income, reinsurance and other components to ensure actuarially sound rates.
• Own line‑of‑business profitability, growth planning, rate adequacy, competitive positioning and segmentation analysis.
• Develop and communicate recommendations for rate changes, new coverages, classification plans and rating structures.
• Manage, coach and develop two actuarial analysts, setting priorities, reviewing work and ensuring quality control.

Required profile

• 10+ years of property and casualty actuarial experience with increasing responsibility, preferably in commercial lines pricing.
• Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics or a related quantitative field.
• Demonstrated ability to lead actuarial analyses, communicate recommendations to senior stakeholders and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong knowledge of insurance operations, accounting, regulation, reinsurance and Actuarial Standards of Practice.
