Certified Welding Inspector – Detroit, MI

About the role

Bureau Veritas is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector to provide quality assurance for client projects in Detroit. The role involves on‑site inspections during construction and coordination with project teams to ensure compliance with specifications and contract requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate with Project Managers, fabrication shops, contractors and other stakeholders to define work order scope, schedule and budget.
• Perform on‑site inspections, generate detailed inspection reports with photos, and ensure services meet project and client requirements.
• Process timesheets, billing, expense reports and other documentation promptly using Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat.
• Maintain positive relationships between Bureau Veritas, clients and fabrication facilities while adhering to safety and PPE standards.

Required profile

• Current/active American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector (or Senior CWI) and NACE/AMPP Level I certification.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record and ability to travel for 1‑2 weeks at a time.
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening.
• Reliable high‑speed internet connection for remote work.

Required skills

• American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector qualification.
• NACE/AMPP Level I certification.
• NDT Level II (MT, PT, UT, VT, RT) – preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, Calendar) and Adobe Acrobat.
• Ability to capture and embed photos in reports and identify additional PPE requirements.
