Assistant Professor of Genetics/Developmental Biology (Teaching Track)

About the role

Hofstra University is hiring a non-tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology, in a teaching line within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The department welcomes applicants with expertise in genetics and/or developmental biology. The position has a 4-4 teaching load (12 credits per semester), an initial two-year appointment, and eligibility for multi-year contracts and promotion.

Key responsibilities

• Teach lecture, lab and writing-intensive courses in genetics, developmental biology, introductory cell and molecular biology, and upper-level courses that complement current offerings.
• Contribute to curricular development and coordinate multi-section courses in your field of expertise.
• Take on departmental, college and university service, such as undergraduate advising and committee participation.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in genetics, developmental biology or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience teaching undergraduate biology courses as instructor of record.
• Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate education and to promoting equity, diversity and inclusion.

Preferred qualifications

• Pedagogical training certifications.
• Experience in coordinated multi-section teaching, outcomes assessment and curriculum development and revision.
