About the role
The Access Coordinator ensures smooth patient flow within the Cancer Center, handling new patient intake, scheduling, billing, and front‑desk operations during daytime shifts. This role supports the oncology team by maintaining accurate records and providing courteous service to patients and visitors.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare new patient information packets, including consents and insurance forms.
- Verify and update patient demographic and insurance data in the electronic system.
- Schedule follow‑up visits and procedures, matching the appropriate provider, duration, and time slot.
- Post charges to patient accounts and collect payments, issuing receipts as needed.
- Maintain the cash drawer, reconcile batches, and close the drawer at shift end.
- Answer basic billing and insurance questions and direct patients to the correct clinical areas.
- Secure and close the office at the end of the shift and perform any additional assigned duties.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of clerical experience; medical office experience preferred.
- Ability to communicate clearly in English, both spoken and written.
- Strong organizational skills and the capacity to work under stress.
- Physical ability to sit, stand, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.
Required skills
- Proficiency with standard office equipment.
- Basic computer literacy for data entry and scheduling.
