2nd Shift Fiber Optic Solder Technician

About the role

Moog is seeking a skilled Solder Technician for its 2nd shift in the Cleveland area. The role involves hand‑soldering fiber‑optic components, microscope inspection, and ensuring high‑quality production of electronic assemblies in a fast‑paced, ESD‑controlled environment.

Key responsibilities

• Read and interpret work instructions, drawings, schematics, and blueprints to perform hand soldering on PCBs and cable assemblies.
• Use microscopes and inspection tools to assemble, rework, and repair fiber‑optic wires, cables, and small electronic components.
• Inspect completed work for accuracy, quality, and compliance, reporting any defects or equipment issues.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while adhering to ESD control procedures and company safety standards.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED preferred; ability to understand English work instructions.
• Minimum 5 years of hand soldering experience in a manufacturing or electronics environment.
• At least 1 year of microscope inspection experience.
• Strong attention to detail, color‑vision ability, and mechanical aptitude.

Required skills

• Hand soldering of fiber‑optic and electronic components.
• Microscope inspection and rework of PCBs.
• Reading assembly drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and tablet‑based devices (e.g., iPad).
• Experience working in an ESD‑controlled environment.
