Union Painter - Hotel Maintenance

About the role

Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh Downtown is seeking an experienced Union Painter to help maintain the appearance and condition of guest rooms, public spaces, meeting rooms and back-of-house areas. The painter works safely and efficiently in an operating hotel, performing duties within the position's classification and the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare walls, ceilings, doors, trim and other surfaces by cleaning, sanding, patching and priming.
• Apply paint, stain, varnish and other finishes with brushes, rollers and appropriate equipment.
• Repair drywall, plaster and minor surface damage.
• Install, repair or remove wallcoverings as assigned.
• Match existing colors and finishes and complete touch-ups consistently.
• Protect furniture, flooring, fixtures and surrounding areas during work.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Housekeeping and other departments to minimize disruption to guests.
• Maintain tools, equipment and supplies and keep work areas clean and secure.
• Follow safety procedures for ladders, equipment, ventilation and handling painting materials.
• Complete work orders and report maintenance concerns to Engineering leadership.

Required profile

• Previous professional painting experience, preferably in a hotel, commercial building or similar setting.
• Demonstrated skills in surface preparation, painting, finishing and drywall repair.
• Knowledge of painting materials, application methods and safe work practices.
• Attention to detail and a guest-focused approach.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate with a team.
• Flexibility to work the schedule required for hotel operations.
• Ability to stand, bend, reach, climb ladders and move materials, with or without reasonable accommodation.

The position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement; wages, benefits, scheduling and other terms are governed by that agreement, and union membership requirements apply.
