Staff Accountant

About the role

The Staff Accountant will support the Accounting Services department at Louisiana State University of Alexandria by managing receivables, collections, and financial reconciliations.

Key responsibilities

• Audit and review student and customer account receivables for past‑due balances.
• Contact students, customers, and external agencies regarding past‑due accounts and collect documentation for proof of debt.
• Prepare monthly collections files for the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office and oversee related communications.
• Invoice external agencies and affiliates, reconcile weekly financial aid disbursements, and assist with monthly accounts receivable reconciliations.
• Support cashiering operations, implement internal controls, and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related business field.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work successfully with multiple internal and external constituencies.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience using QuickBooks.
• Familiarity with Workday (preferred).
