About the role

Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh Downtown is looking for a friendly, attentive server to create a memorable dining experience for guests. The ideal candidate is dependable, works well with a team and stays organized in a busy dining environment. The position is full time.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome guests, present menus and provide friendly, knowledgeable service.
• Explain menu items, answer questions and offer food and beverage recommendations.
• Enter orders accurately into the point-of-sale system and pass special requests to the kitchen.
• Follow procedures for food allergies and dietary restrictions.
• Serve food and drinks promptly, check back on guest satisfaction and monitor assigned tables.
• Process payments accurately and follow cash-handling procedures.
• Set, clear and reset tables and keep service areas clean and organized.
• Complete opening, closing and side-work assignments.
• Follow food safety, sanitation and responsible alcohol service procedures.
• Coordinate with kitchen staff, hosts, bartenders and fellow servers.

Required profile

• Previous restaurant or hotel serving experience preferred.
• Strong guest service and communication skills.
• Ability to manage several tables at once while staying accurate and organized.
• Professional appearance and positive, team-oriented attitude.
• Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to stand, walk and carry trays for long periods, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to meet the legal requirements for serving alcoholic beverages.

Required skills

• Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and payment processing preferred.
