Lead Software Engineer – Cloud Infrastructure

About the role

JPMorgan Chase is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to drive the evolution of its Athena Core Platform toward a resilient, cloud‑native architecture. You will join an agile, global team within the Commercial and Investment Bank, delivering market‑leading technology solutions that are secure, stable, and scalable.

Key responsibilities

• Align technical strategy with partner teams across the bank to provide a coherent experience for Athena developers.
• Design, develop, and troubleshoot innovative software solutions, thinking beyond routine approaches.
• Partner with a global engineering team to transform the Athena Core Platform into a resilient, cloud‑based architecture.
• Identify and automate remediation of recurring issues to improve operational stability.
• Lead communities of practice to promote new and emerging technologies.
• Drive adoption of enterprise‑authorized AI‑assisted engineering practices, establishing validation standards and promoting reusable patterns.

Required profile

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with at least 5 years of applied experience.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity and secure handling.
• Proven ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
