About the role
The Early Education Specialist works with refugee families to ensure children can access quality preschool programs and transition successfully into elementary school. The role involves building relationships with schools, parents, and community partners to address language, cultural, and special‑needs barriers.
Key responsibilities
- Lead planning and implementation of early‑childhood education initiatives, including Head Start, pre‑kindergarten, scholarships, daycare, and after‑school programs.
- Connect families with local early‑learning resources, in‑home providers, and parenting support services for children ages 0‑5.
- Provide individualized case management, referrals, and advocacy for students with special needs.
- Maintain accurate case documentation, service plans, and participant files.
- Enter and monitor program data in IRC’s ETO system and ensure compliance with donor and contractual requirements.
- Support program monitoring, evaluation, and reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
Required profile
- Experience working with refugee or immigrant families, preferably in an educational or social services setting.
- Strong understanding of early‑childhood education systems and special‑education processes.
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills with families, schools, and community partners.
- Ability to manage multiple cases, maintain detailed records, and meet reporting deadlines.
Required skills
- Proficiency with case‑management software (e.g., ETO) and data entry.
- Knowledge of local early‑learning programs and resources.
