Director of Culinary Services (Senior Living)

About the role

Integral Senior Living manages care and lifestyle-focused Independent Living, Assisted Living and Memory Care communities across California and surrounding areas. It is looking for a Director of Culinary Services to lead its food service operations. The company offers up to a $5,000 sign-on bonus paid in installments at 6 and 12 months of employment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement food services policies, procedures and job descriptions.
• Plan menus and menu cycles according to cultural and regional food preferences and resident dietary guidelines, adjusting recipes to appropriate yield.
• Monitor food quality and consistency (temperature, portion control, palatability and appearance) and make changes to meet established standards.
• Observe workers preparing, portioning and garnishing food to ensure methods and portion sizes are as prescribed.
• Cook and carve meats and prepare dishes.
• Order and receive food and chemical supplies, validate deliveries against orders, and inventory food items monthly.
• Conduct regular quality assurance audits and practice safe, sanitary food handling and loss prevention procedures.
• Negotiate and sign food service agreements with vendors.
• Select, schedule and run orientation and in-service training for staff.
• Monitor monthly expenditures and explain significant variances to ensure budget compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a culinary arts program preferred.
• At least 5 years of management experience in a food service environment.
• Successfully completed food safety training.
• Able to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, with strong organizational skills and attention to deadlines.
• Strong computer skills and the ability to lead and motivate others.
