Technology and Metadata Services Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a part‑time Technology and Metadata Services Assistant to join the Helen Plum Library team in Lombard, Illinois. In this role you will help maintain and enhance our collections, ensuring that patrons have reliable access to well‑organized resources.

Key responsibilities

• Process and preserve magazines, newspapers, and other periodicals.
• Repair damaged materials and perform routine maintenance on collection items.
• Assist with inventory projects, including shelf reading and item verification.
• Support cataloging and metadata entry to keep the library’s digital records up to date.
• Collaborate with library staff to improve collection accessibility and quality.

Required profile

• Interest in library services and collection management.
• Attention to detail and ability to handle physical materials safely.
• Ability to work part‑time on an onsite schedule.
• Team‑oriented mindset and good communication with staff.
