Tax Accountant / Senior Tax Accountant

About the role

TransRe is seeking a Tax Accountant or Senior Tax Accountant to join its New York City office. Reporting to the Tax Manager, you will support tax financial reporting and compliance for various TransRe entities.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare quarterly and annual income tax provisions in accordance with US GAAP and statutory requirements.
• Prepare and review federal, state, and local income tax returns for insurance and non‑insurance corporations.
• Handle state, local, and other tax compliance such as sales & use, personal property, commercial rent, and federal excise taxes.
• Prepare and review US information filings for foreign entities (Forms 5471, 8865, 8621) and foreign tax credit calculations (Form 1118).
• Assist with federal, state, and local tax authority audits.
• Identify tax‑saving opportunities and recommend strategies to reduce audit exposure.
• Utilize tax software and systems to improve quality, processes, and efficiency.
• Collaborate with third‑party vendors and external specialists on complex tax issues.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of tax experience at a public accounting firm.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• CPA designation or CPA track.
• Experience in the (re)insurance industry is a plus.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Familiarity with Workday Ledger (plus).
• Familiarity with Oracle TRCS Tax Provision (plus).
