Systems Administrator – Active TS Clearance

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to maintain and secure multi‑user computer environments for a federal‑level client. The role requires an active TS clearance and the ability to work onsite in Linthicum Heights, MD.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain smooth operation of physical and virtual servers, coordinating with network engineers.
• Monitor system resources (CPU, disk, response times) and tune performance.
• Perform systems security administration, including user profile creation, account management, and DoD hardening (STIG/SCAP).
• Install, configure, and manage system‑wide software, storage allocation, and backup/recovery solutions.
• Interact with users, evaluate vendor products, and make hardware/software purchase recommendations.
• Develop and enforce policies for computing resource allocation.
• Support centralized anti‑virus and patch management systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 8+ years of experience (or 6+ years with a Master’s degree) in systems administration.
• Active TS clearance; SCI eligibility preferred.
• CompTIA Security+ certification (must provide proof).

Required skills

• Active Directory Domain and Forest design, implementation, and management.
• Group Policy Objects (GPO) administration.
• PowerShell scripting and Windows domain services.
• DoD security hardening (STIG/SCAP).
• DNS configuration and troubleshooting.
• Network security fundamentals (firewalls, IDS/IPS).
• VMware installation, configuration, management, and troubleshooting.
• Omnissa Horizon deployment and troubleshooting.
• Storage Area Networks (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS), RAID, and file system management.
• Backup technologies and disaster recovery planning.
• Experience with ACAS, Splunk, SolarWinds.
• RHEL administration.
• CI/CD automation tools (Ansible, Terraform).
• Cloud services (Azure, AWS).
• GitLab and Trellix familiarity.
