About the role
Curtis Memorial Library is seeking a customer‑focused Substitute Librarian to provide library services across adult, lending and youth areas on a per‑diem basis. The role involves ensuring a safe, positive environment for patrons and may include acting as the person in charge within the library.
Key responsibilities
- Provide library services in adult, lending, and youth sections.
- Maintain a safe and positive environment for patrons.
- Serve as the person in charge when required.
- Fill in for long‑ or short‑term staff absences.
Required profile
- Availability to work weekdays, weekends and evenings, with at least one four‑hour shift per month.
- MLS degree or degree pending in 2026; public library experience strongly preferred.
Required skills
- Proficiency in digital literacy.
- Extensive knowledge of current literature and information sources for adult and youth patrons.
- Ability to provide in‑depth readers’ advisory and information assistance.
What we offer
- Pay rate of $27.69 per hour.
- Saturday differential pay of an additional $5 per hour.
