Software Engineer, Scaling

About the role

Build AI is looking for a Software Engineer to create the tools that enable on‑the‑ground scaling teams to collect physical‑labor data efficiently. You will work directly with operators in factories and field sites, ensuring the software never becomes a bottleneck for data collection.

Key responsibilities

• Build internal products for collection operations such as tasking, site stand‑up, device inventory, shift tracking, and tooling that works under poor connectivity.
• Partner with ops teams to identify lost hours, ship software that eliminates those losses, and measure the resulting increase in useful collection per person.
• Make the process of standing up a new site or country repeatable rather than custom each time.
• Create site‑health dashboards showing recording status, failures, and upload bottlenecks for field leads and engineering.
• Collaborate with data infrastructure and marketplace incentives to ensure field tools feed data and receive payment.
• Travel with field teams when needed to validate and refine the product.

Required profile

• Strong generalist software engineer who enjoys shipping products for operators, not just backend services.
• Comfortable working in messy real‑world operations and building 0→1 tools.
• Willingness to travel frequently and embed with field teams.
• Measures success by how much scaling teams can increase their output, not by polished abstractions.
