Software Engineer

C1.ai is building a horizontal identity platform that lets companies and AI agents manage access across SaaS apps, infrastructure, internal tools and more. As a Software Engineer you will own end-to-end projects, designing data models, building APIs, shipping UI components and rolling them out to customers. You will work in a fast-moving, small team where engineers are generalists but can also specialize in areas such as connectors, performance, security or distributed systems.

Key responsibilities include taking high-impact ideas from concept to production, making architectural and scope decisions without waiting for direction, collaborating closely with customers, design and product to determine what to build, and ensuring code quality, system design and operational reliability. You will also contribute to the platform’s scalability and security, and may step into specialist roles as needed.

The ideal candidate has built and operated real production systems, is comfortable moving across the stack, prefers delivering results over debating ownership, and communicates clearly in writing. Experience with identity, security, distributed systems or large-scale data platforms is a plus, as is background in fast-growing startups or developer-focused products.

C1.ai offers a competitive salary of $180k‑$250k, meaningful equity, full medical, dental and vision coverage, and the option to work onsite in Portland, San Francisco or New York.
