Software Engineer (Agent Platform)

About the role

Browserbase is building the Agent Platform, a framework that lets developers automate browsers with code. As a Software Engineer on this team you will shape the core APIs and tools that power millions of monthly downloads and thousands of stars on GitHub. You will work at the intersection of AI and open‑source to make web automation smarter and more accessible.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and operate the Agent Platform framework, delivering developer‑first APIs that currently see ~2 M monthly downloads.
• Create tools that simplify web automation and integrate frontier AI models from OpenAI, Google and others.
• Deploy production‑ready AI solutions that impact millions of customers.
• Collaborate with AI labs to benchmark and improve model capabilities.
• Document work and share knowledge across the team.

Required profile

• High agency – able to set direction, make judgment calls and drive projects without waiting for perfect clarity.
• Strong sense of ownership and bias toward action.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, choosing the right medium for each message.
• Adaptable, quick learner who can dive into unfamiliar systems and make sound technical decisions.
• Enjoys collaborating in a small, ambitious, fast‑paced team.

Required skills

• Proficient in TypeScript; Python and Go are a plus.
• Experience building developer tools, frameworks or libraries used by others.
• Background in AI agents, large language models, distributed systems or reinforcement learning.
• Familiarity with web automation frameworks such as Puppeteer, Playwright or Selenium; Chrome DevTools Protocol experience is a huge bonus.
• Track record of open‑source contributions or public developer projects.
