Software Architect – Distributed Microservices Platform

About the role

Parsons is seeking a highly experienced Software Architect to lead the design and evolution of a large‑scale, globally distributed mission platform. The role combines strategic architecture ownership with hands‑on guidance of a 25‑service micro‑services ecosystem running on modern Linux environments. You will work closely with cloud, security, data and field engineering teams to ensure the platform remains resilient, observable and maintainable across edge and cloud deployments.

Key responsibilities

• Own the overall software architecture for a distributed micro‑services platform deployed worldwide.
• Define and govern service boundaries, data flows, event patterns, and deployment topologies.
• Lead architecture for core services such as transaction processing, authorization, health/status, and biometric matching.
• Guide integration with external government, travel and identity systems, as well as peripheral devices and sensors.
• Collaborate with cloud, network, security and operations teams to align architecture with real‑world deployment constraints.
• Serve as senior technical authority in design reviews, incident analysis and roadmap prioritisation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (4 years experience may substitute).
• 12+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years architecting production micro‑services platforms.
• Proven ability to act as technical authority over a multi‑service ecosystem and guide multiple development teams.

• Consul, Nomad, Vault (service discovery, orchestration, secrets)
• Vue.js 3 for front‑end interfaces
• Experience with edge‑to‑cloud deployments and resilient architecture
• Active Top Secret SCI security clearance
