About the role
The United Nations Department of Global Communications is seeking a motivated Social Media Intern to support its digital outreach. This hybrid internship lasts three months with the possibility of extending to six months, offering hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced international environment.
Key responsibilities
- Research, compile, draft and edit content for Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn and other platforms under tight deadlines.
- Monitor and analyse social‑media metrics to inform strategy.
- Capture and curate visual content at events such as film screenings, concerts and exhibitions.
- Assist in creating original graphics and posts using design tools.
- Attend meetings as an observer, manage agendas and draft meeting notes.
- Support special projects assigned by the Social Media Section.
Required profile
- Enrolled in or recently completed a bachelor’s, master’s or Ph.D. programme (final year or graduate).
- Field of study related to communications, media, journalism or a similar discipline.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
- Must provide own computer, software and internet connection.
Required skills
- Familiarity with Canva, Trello, PowerPoint and Adobe Photoshop (or similar graphic‑design tools).
- Experience using major social‑media platforms: X (Twitter), Facebook, Threads, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok.
- Basic digital photography skills.
