Senior Environmental Engineer – Springfield, MO

About the role

3M is looking for a Senior Environmental Engineer to join the Safety & Industrial Business plant in Springfield, Missouri. The role sits within the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) team and will apply data‑driven tools to support compliance, reporting and sustainability initiatives across the site.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support high‑impact projects that improve business sustainability and environmental performance.
• Conduct internal and external environmental audits and prepare regulatory reports.
• Analyze plant‑specific data to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.
• Respond to agency requests, manage permitting activities and provide technical support to product development teams.
• Provide guidance and consistency to plant‑level EHS personnel and external stakeholders.
• Help set EHS priorities, share best practices and ensure ongoing compliance with environmental regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, chemistry, environmental science or a related technical field.
• Minimum two years of combined experience in environmental compliance or reporting in a private, public, government or military setting.
• Preferred: Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Engineering or related discipline.
• Preferred: Five or more years of experience in an EHS role within a manufacturing environment.
