About the role
Join Oceaneering's Aerospace and Defense Technologies team as a Senior Electrical Engineer, developing complex power and control systems for unique underwater robotic and electromechanical platforms serving US Navy and other government customers. You will work on one‑of‑a‑kind projects, moving from concept through testing and field deployment.
Key responsibilities
- Design and analyze electrical components and subsystems for underwater robotic and electromechanical systems.
- Translate high‑level, incomplete requirements into detailed designs with minimal supervision.
- Prepare and actively participate in regular design reviews.
- Collaborate with mechanical, software, and systems engineers to integrate and validate complete solutions.
- Mentor junior engineers or technicians as needed.
- Take ownership of results while knowing when to seek assistance.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (or related field with an electrical concentration).
- Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience in electrical design, analysis, integration, and testing of complex electromechanical or robotic systems.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and make technical decisions.
Required skills
- Electrical design and analysis, component sizing, and wiring for EMI/EMC mitigation.
- Selection and integration of high‑tech Commercial Off‑the‑Shelf (COTS) equipment.
- Embedded microprocessor/single‑board computer control system design.
- Data communications interfaces (Ethernet, USB, RS‑232/422/485, SPI, I²C, CAN) in noisy environments.
- DC power system design and power/energy calculations.
- Creation and interpretation of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and cable drawings.
- Use of test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power analyzers, spectrum analyzers, CTDR/OTDR.
- Proficiency with CAD/Simulation tools (Altium Designer, SPICE, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SolidWorks Electrical, MathCAD, MATLAB) and Microsoft Office.
