Staff Mechanical Engineer

About the role

The Staff Mechanical Engineer (ME‑IV) leads interdisciplinary design teams, directs complex engineering projects, and provides technical leadership for maritime and subsea systems, including ROVs, LARs, hydraulics, and heavy‑lift solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise a multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers, drafters, technical writers, and technicians.
• Direct engineering projects with complex features, reviewing objectives, schedules, and estimates.
• Develop and apply advanced design methods, conduct investigations and tests, and ensure customer requirements are translated into system solutions.
• Interact with customers to define expectations and support manufacturing, integration, and test activities.
• Assist in bid and proposal efforts, providing cost estimates, technical approaches, and schedule data.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Ocean Engineering from an accredited institution.
• 8–15 years of mechanical engineering experience, including 5+ years leading multidisciplinary design teams.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance.
• Strong communication, organizational, and technical writing skills.
• Proven leadership and ability to manage complex technical projects.
