Senior Electrical Engineer – Interconnection Study

About the role

ETAP is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead Transmission and Distribution interconnection studies for utility‑scale renewable generation, battery storage, and conventional plants. The role combines advanced modeling, simulation, and technical analysis with mentorship of junior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and validate detailed models for renewable generation, battery storage, and distributed resources.
• Lead interconnection studies for transmission and distribution systems, including power flow, voltage profile, short‑circuit, protection coordination, dynamic and transient stability, harmonic and power‑quality analyses.
• Perform studies using multiple platforms (ETAP, PSSE, PSCAD, PSLF, TSAT) and cross‑verify results.
• Coordinate with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, and developers to ensure compliance with FERC, NERC, IEEE, and state standards.
• Prepare comprehensive reports, technical memoranda, and client presentations.
• Supervise and mentor study engineers, ensuring consistency and quality across projects.
• Provide technical leadership in developing study methodologies, automation tools, and best practices.

Required profile

• Extensive hands‑on experience leading utility‑scale interconnection projects across the United States.
• Strong technical judgment and deep understanding of ISO/RTO procedures.
• Proven track record of delivering high‑quality studies and obtaining regulatory approvals.
• Senior‑level expertise with the ability to guide and mentor junior staff.
