Senior CloudOps Engineer

About the role

CloudZero is scaling its real‑time ingestion platform across AWS, Azure, and GCP. As a Senior CloudOps Engineer you will own the reliability, performance, and observability of the end‑to‑end data path that powers billions of events daily.

Key responsibilities

• Define and enforce SLOs for the real‑time ingestion pipeline, reviewing critical paths before release.
• Build and maintain observability tooling, including load generators, fault‑injection harnesses, and SLO instrumentation libraries.
• Write production‑grade Python code for shared libraries, automation agents, and internal services.
• Design, implement, and manage CloudFormation and SAM modules that provision reliable, cost‑efficient resources.
• Automate deployments, scaling, backups, and limit changes to eliminate repetitive manual work.
• Partner with product engineering teams to embed resilience, review architectures, and bake best‑practice templates into their workflows.

Required profile

• 5+ years building and operating distributed systems in AWS, with a strong focus on reliability outcomes.
• Proven experience defining and managing SLOs, including decisions on what not to alert on.
• Hands‑on expertise with asynchronous, event‑driven architectures (Kafka, Kinesis, SQS, Pulsar, Step Functions).
• Ability to debug production incidents under pressure and document solutions clearly.
• Passion for thoughtful system design over reactive firefighting.
