School Resource Officer – Milledgeville YDC

About the role

The Department of Juvenile Justice seeks a School Resource Officer to provide law‑enforcement support and maintain safety within the Milledgeville Youth Detention Center educational setting.

Key responsibilities

• Perform law‑enforcement duties in a secure detention‑facility setting, including security clearance for students entering and exiting secure areas.
• Conduct regular walkthroughs of classrooms, hallways and offices, inspect for contraband, and monitor security cameras.
• Address disruptive behavior, facilitate safety drills, and assist with student success and parent meetings.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED and GAPOST certified peace officer in good standing.
• Minimum one year experience as a School Resource Officer or three years as a peace officer with valid Georgia POST certification.
• Physical ability to stand, kneel, bend, and meet agency agility standards.
