Part-Time Fire Inspector – Waco, TX

About the role

Bureau Veritas, a world leader in testing, inspection and certification services, is hiring a part‑time Fire Inspector for its Waco, Texas location. The inspector will conduct field inspections of fire safety systems, enforce fire codes, and support public safety initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct field inspections and evaluations of life safety, fire safety, and fire protection systems, including sprinkler systems, fire alarms, generators, fire pumps, elevators, and special life safety systems.
• Inspect commercial and applicable residential occupancies for compliance with fire code, life safety code, and city ordinances.
• Interpret and advise building contractors on city fire codes and procedures, and recommend fire safety material or equipment needs.
• Test operational readiness of fire suppression, detection, and alarm systems, documenting maintenance requirements and deficiencies.
• Investigate fire hazard complaints, underground storage tanks, and emergency access sites for regulatory compliance.
• Maintain inspection records, reports, and inventory of equipment, uniforms, and fire prevention supplies.

Required profile

• Knowledge of federal, state and city fire and life safety codes, ordinances and regulations.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment under stressful or dangerous circumstances.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Texas Class C driver’s license.
• Pass pre‑employment drug screen, motor vehicle record check, employment and criminal background checks.
• Texas Commission on Fire Protection Basic Fire Inspector Certificate.
