Remote Immigration Law Paralegal / Legal Assistant

About the role

We are seeking experienced legal professionals to provide remote support to a Chicago‑based immigration attorney who handles humanitarian relief cases. The position can be filled by a paralegal, legal assistant, or licensed attorney and involves working on T‑Visa, U‑Visa, and VAWA petitions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and file T‑Visa petitions for victims of human trafficking.
• Prepare U‑Visa petitions, including law‑enforcement certifications (I‑918B).
• Draft VAWA self‑petitions and supporting evidence packets.
• Draft personal declarations and compile supporting documentation.
• Manage USCIS filing procedures, respond to Requests for Evidence, and track case status.
• Conduct client intake and maintain trauma‑informed communication.

Required profile

• Prior experience with humanitarian‑based immigration petitions.
• Paralegal, legal assistant experience, or JD/law license.
• Strong written English; bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.
• Detail‑oriented, organized, and comfortable handling a high‑volume caseload.
• Reliable remote work setup.
• Relevant academic background in Law, Legal Studies, International Relations, or related field.
