About the role
Mercur is seeking a contract Audit Professional to work fully remotely. You will design and execute long‑horizon audit tasks, create risk‑assessment scenarios, and produce deterministic rubrics that compare agent performance against verified ground truth.
Key responsibilities
- Develop audit tasks with deterministic rubrics for performance evaluation.
- Create planning scenarios, conduct risk assessments, and map audit programs to assertions.
- Design execution tasks, including control testing against known populations and ground‑truth responses.
- Conduct wrap‑up activities such as workpaper reviews, defect identification, and deficiency memos.
- Work independently and asynchronously, delivering complex scenarios that require sustained focus.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- 2+ years of experience in external audit (Big 4 or national firm) or internal audit at a public company.
- Comfort with audit artifacts such as workpapers, walkthroughs, test matrices, and deficiency write‑ups.
- Clear written communication and ability to encode reasoning into deterministic rubrics.
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred.

What we offer
- Hourly rate of $60–$85 (USD) paid weekly via Stripe Connect.
