About the role
Moog is seeking a Quality Assurance (QA) Project Engineer to drive design optimization, reduce variation, and elevate product quality across design, manufacturing, and Assembly & Test. The role operates onsite in Buffalo, NY, collaborating with cross‑functional teams and may supervise a small group of engineers or technicians.
Key responsibilities
- Lead variation reduction and design optimization by identifying key characteristics and processes for product lines.
- Develop and implement SPC and capability plans, including process and gage capability studies.
- Apply advanced statistical techniques (DOE, regression, complex statistics) to assess manufacturing and A&T capability.
- Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials & Process, and QA to influence requirements and drive Design‑To‑Cost outcomes.
- Present capability studies and statistical findings at customer design reviews.
- Train and mentor teams on statistical concepts and best practices.
- Manage project budgets and schedules, documenting results in clear reports.
- Support new product development with proactive quality planning and, when needed, supervise up to four quality engineers/technicians.
Required profile
- BS in Engineering or related field with at least five years of experience applying statistics in design, manufacturing, and assembly of complex systems.
- Proven expertise in SPC, DOE, regression analysis, capability studies, and root‑cause/corrective action.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing, assembly, and testing processes with ability to make independent technical decisions.
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to coach others and oversee work at key project milestones.
