Purchasing Manager

About the role

Altrider, a US‑based motorcycle accessories manufacturer, is looking for a Purchasing Manager to ensure product availability across its 400‑plus SKUs. You will be responsible for planning, ordering and tracking inventory so that dealers never face stock‑outs.

Key responsibilities

• Run a weekly reorder review using a purchasing dashboard to identify SKUs where months‑of‑cover falls below supplier lead time.
• Validate existing open orders before creating new purchase orders.
• Issue purchase orders with correct quantity, price, drawing revision and packaging instructions.
• Chase order acknowledgements and confirm delivery dates, maintaining a project tracker with PO number, confirmed date, quantity and shipment allocation.
• Track shipments in transit, verify vessel ETAs and publish weekly arrival updates to warehouse, customer service and marketing teams.
• Produce a weekly stock‑out report covering back‑ordered, out‑of‑stock and at‑risk SKUs with status and expected arrival.
• Reconcile inventory between the internal system and the EU 3PL warehouse, investigating any variances.
• Recommend air‑freight when the cost of a stock‑out exceeds shipping cost and present the analysis to leadership.
• Escalate issues when suppliers become unresponsive.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, inventory or merchandise planning.
• Strong discipline in follow‑up and ability to make decisive ordering calls.
• Excellent written English for supplier and internal communication.
• Comfortable addressing uncomfortable topics with suppliers in writing.

Required skills

• Advanced Google Sheets (lookups, pivots, conditional logic, reporting).
• Experience reading engineering drawings or part revisions.
• Familiarity with sea and air freight logistics, consolidators and customs documentation.
• Knowledge of 3PL or warehouse management systems.
• Shopify or e‑commerce inventory management experience.
