Purchasing Agent – Prosthetic Service

About the role

This position serves as a Purchasing Agent for the Prosthetic Service within the Veteran Affairs Health Care System (VA HCS) located in White River Junction, Vermont. The role supports the acquisition of prosthetic and orthotic equipment and related medical supplies.

Key responsibilities

• Perform administrative duties in a healthcare setting, including record keeping and documentation.
• Review and work with patients' medical records to ensure appropriate procurement.
• Assist in routine and complex purchases of medical equipment, prosthetic and orthotic appliances for clinics.
• Utilize computer software programs to process purchase orders and maintain inventory data.
• Communicate with internal departments and external vendors through various channels.

Required profile

• Proficiency in basic written and spoken English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d).
• Either one year of specialized experience at the GS‑4 level or a qualifying four‑year degree from an accredited institution.
• Ability to meet GS‑5 or GS‑6 qualification standards, including relevant experience or education.
• Eligibility to work for the U.S. Federal government.
