Procurement Officer

About the role

The Procurement Officer supports the Transportation & Life Support Service, Procurement Division of the United Nations Office of Supply Chain Management. The role focuses on managing complex, worldwide procurement projects for UN Headquarters, peace operations, and field missions.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, develop and manage procurement and contractual aspects of high‑complexity projects across diverse services and commodities.
• Advise requisitioning units and recipient entities on procurement issues throughout the procurement cycle.
• Prepare and oversee invitations to tender, and manage bid and proposal evaluations.
• Formulate strategies and design innovative solutions for complex procurement challenges.
• Maintain work programs and schedules for ongoing and new contracts.
• Participate in negotiations with senior suppliers; sign procurement orders within authorized limits and prepare submissions for higher‑value contracts.
• Conduct market research, analyze statistical data and commodity trends, and develop metrics for senior management.
• Identify new technologies and products/services, evaluate potential supply sources, and integrate research results into procurement programs.
