About the role

The Police Officer I, under general supervision, provides specialized professional law enforcement services to the university community, including crime prevention, response, investigation, and enforcement of university rules.

Key responsibilities

• Patrol designated areas to prevent and deter crime, enforce traffic regulations, and manage parking.
• Respond to calls involving fires, accidents, disturbances, assaults, robberies, and other incidents.
• Interact daily with the public, providing assistance and coordinating with other law‑enforcement and community agencies.
• Secure crime scenes, gather evidence, obtain witness statements, and conduct preliminary and follow‑up investigations.
• Enforce criminal, traffic, and university regulations, taking appropriate action in accordance with federal, state, and local laws.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; one year of related law‑enforcement experience.
• Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) basic certification.
• State of Texas Class C driver’s license (or ability to obtain within 30 days).
• Successful completion of psychological evaluation, physical examination, and comprehensive background investigation.
