About the role
The Lab Assistant works under the direct supervision of faculty, providing administrative and instructional support for the Welding Technology program at Lanier Technical College’s Barrow Campus. This part‑time, non‑benefits‑eligible position is appointed each academic term and offers up to 20 hours per week.
Key responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment as instructed.
- Assist with inventory management and requisition of lab supplies.
- Support faculty by supervising and mentoring students during lab and tutoring sessions.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized lab environment.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum two years of experience in the welding field or demonstrable related competencies.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work the required hours each week.
- Neat appearance and ability to work well with others.
- Willingness to undergo a background investigation.
Required skills
- Knowledge of AWS D11 welding code.
- Knowledge of API 1104 welding code.
- Knowledge of ASME B31.1 welding code.
