Molecular Genetics Scientist – Plant Breeding

About the role

The Molecular Genetics Scientist will lead a small team to apply cutting‑edge molecular genetics technologies across all berry crops. The role generates data sets and insights that drive plant breeding and variety advancement decisions for flavor, stress resilience, and productivity.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, lead, and supervise the integration of pan‑genomics tools to create sub‑genome specific trait‑marker designs and assays.
• Oversee lab activities for causal gene identification and validation within traditional and precision breeding workflows.
• Advise the Breeding Technology Lab Lead on a rolling strategic roadmap of scientific activities.
• Create and execute an annual project plan aligned with organizational initiatives.
• Maintain equipment, ensure safety and quality compliance, and continuously improve laboratory workflows.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience in molecular genetics, genomics, or related research.
• Proven ability to work independently and lead cross‑functional projects.
• Strong communication skills for reporting progress to stakeholders.
• Commitment to process improvement and adherence to safety standards.
