Composting & Bulk Materials Operations Supervisor

About the role

The Composting & Bulk Materials Operations Supervisor leads the day‑to‑day activities that receive, handle, process, compost and sell bulk organic materials at Denali’s Advance, NC facility. Reporting to the Facility Manager, the supervisor ensures safe, efficient operations, drives continuous improvement, and helps deliver high‑quality compost products while meeting budget targets.

Key responsibilities

• Promote Denali’s core values and enforce safe work practices and environmental regulations.
• Oversee safe operation of equipment such as wheel loaders, excavators, dozers, grinders, screens, depackaging, coloring and mixing machines.
• Identify and correct unsafe conditions, coordinate daily equipment housekeeping, and support preventative maintenance and minor repairs.
• Implement asset‑management tracking for equipment performance and utilization.
• Manage composting processes to meet all regulatory requirements, maintaining data on temperatures, product testing, windrow age, etc.
• Coordinate with the leadership team to prepare product for bagging and bulk sales, supporting production schedules and communicating bulk demand to sales staff.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to develop a safety‑focused workplace culture.
• Experience supervising equipment operators and collaborating with maintenance personnel.
• Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations, policies and standards.
• Strong organizational skills for tracking equipment performance and composting data records.
• Effective communication with cross‑functional teams, including sales and production.

Required skills

• Operation of wheel loaders, excavators, dozers, grinders, screens, depackaging equipment, coloring equipment and mixing equipment.
• Preventive maintenance and minor equipment repairs.
• Asset management practices for equipment utilization.
• Compiling and maintaining composting data records (temperature, testing, pile age).
