Regional State Stewardship Manager

About the role

The Battery Network is seeking a Regional State Stewardship Manager to lead and expand battery stewardship programs across one to three states. This remote position, based in Washington State, focuses on ensuring compliance with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) battery laws while advancing the organization’s environmental objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with state agencies, local governments, recycling partners, and other stakeholders.
• Maintain, revise, and disseminate stewardship plans and agreements for jurisdictions served.
• Oversee existing programs and implement new stewardship initiatives within the assigned region.
• Ensure all activities meet state EPR law requirements and organizational business goals.
• Collaborate with the State Program Coordinator and cross‑regional teams to drive regulatory compliance and program innovation.
• Track and report program performance metrics to demonstrate environmental and operational impact.

Required profile

• Mid‑level professional with experience in environmental program management or battery stewardship.
• Demonstrated knowledge of state EPR battery regulations.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
• Ability to work remotely and travel occasionally (5‑7 times per year).
• Residency in Washington State is mandatory.
