About the role
The internship is located in the Sales and Marketing Section of the Outreach Division, Department of Global Communications, United Nations, New York. It is a full‑time, unpaid position lasting up to six months, reporting to the Marketing Officer.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct research and analysis of current marketing practices, audience engagement trends, and promotional approaches used for United Nations Publications, and prepare recommendations for enhancing outreach.
- Contribute to the development of a sample integrated marketing campaign for a selected publication or target audience segment, including proposed messaging, communication channels, and performance indicators.
- Support the preparation of promotional materials and draft sample content for web, social media, and other communication platforms, gaining experience in digital content creation and editorial processes.
- Assist in designing and analyzing surveys or feedback mechanisms to assess audience awareness, interests, and engagement with United Nations Publications, and summarize findings in a project report.
- Compile and analyze data from existing sales, marketing, or audience engagement sources to identify trends and produce presentations or reports highlighting key insights.
- Participate in the planning process for public outreach initiatives or events by researching best practices, preparing background materials, and documenting lessons learned.
- Prepare a final project presentation summarizing research findings, recommendations, and proposed strategies to strengthen the visibility and accessibility of United Nations Publications.
Required profile
- Be enrolled in or have completed a graduate programme, the final year of a bachelor programme, or hold a university degree (minimum bachelor level).
- Be computer literate in standard software applications.
- Demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter.
- Ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and respect differing opinions.
- No prior work experience required, but the field of study should be closely related to the internship.
