Lecturer, Human Development & Family Relations

About the role

SUNY Plattsburgh is seeking a dynamic, collaborative educator to join the Human Development & Family Relations (HDFR) Department. The position begins in Fall 2026 and focuses on teaching undergraduate courses and contributing to departmental service.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate HDFR courses, aligning with the candidate’s expertise.
• Provide academic advising, including support for the HDFR minor program.
• Participate in curriculum and program development.
• Serve on university, school, and department committees.
• Contribute to the department’s advisory board.
• Collaborate with faculty on the main Plattsburgh campus and remotely with staff at the Queensbury campus.
• Potentially deliver courses in a distance‑learning format.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor undergraduate students.
• Expertise in Human Development, Family Relations, or related fields.
• Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity‑minded practices.
• Willingness to engage in collaborative, interdisciplinary work.
• Flexibility to teach both in‑person and remotely as needed.
