Laboratory Technician III – Machining & Fabrication

About the role

The Bush Combat Development Complex is seeking a full‑time Laboratory Technician III to support academic projects, teaching, and research operations. Working under general supervision, you will operate a variety of machining and fabrication equipment while interacting with students, faculty, and external customers.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and program CNC mills, lathes, water‑jet, and wire EDM machines.
• Perform machining, welding, and general fabrication tasks.
• Design parts using CAD/CAM software (SolidWorks, Mastercam).
• Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and supplies.
• Instruct and train lab users, read and interpret manufacturing prints.
• Conduct precision measurements and data entry related to projects.
• Assist in supervising student workers and ensuring lab safety compliance.

Required profile

• Experience working in a STEM laboratory or shop environment.
• Ability to collaborate with diverse groups of customers and faculty.
• Strong attention to safety protocols and documentation.
