Field Service Engineer – Northern New Jersey

About the role

Alcon is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support surgical equipment across the Northern New Jersey territory. The role involves on‑site installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair of Alcon’s ophthalmic devices, ensuring they operate to specification and meet regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform complex technical tasks to ensure Alcon equipment functions effectively.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair surgical equipment, including preventative maintenance, installations and upgrades.
• Commission and test new equipment at customer sites.
• Develop and maintain relationships with customers, supporting Annual Maintenance Contract sales and renewals.
• Document service logs, prepare failure analysis reports and ensure compliance with GxP regulations and SOPs.
• Escalate technical issues to engineering teams and coordinate with dispatch, managers and cross‑functional teams.
• Manage daily schedule and maintain timely communication with stakeholders.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant field service experience with medical devices.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Ability to travel up to 30 % of the time and lift up to 50 lb.

Required skills

• Experience with advanced medical devices, including laser‑based systems.
• Familiarity with hospital operating‑room and surgery‑center protocols.
• Working knowledge of ServiceMax or similar CRM tools.
• Understanding of GxP regulations and SOP compliance.
