About the role
The National Partnership for Women & Families is seeking a motivated Economic Justice Advocacy Intern for the fall of 2026. This hybrid position in Washington, DC offers hands‑on experience in policy research, legislative analysis, and coalition‑building on issues such as paid leave, fair pay, and workplace discrimination.
Key responsibilities
- Track and monitor policy developments related to paid family leave, paid sick days, fair pay, pregnancy discrimination, and sexual harassment.
- Conduct literature reviews, legal and policy research, and synthesize findings into briefing materials.
- Contribute to fact sheets, policy briefs, and other advocacy products, including fact‑checking and proofreading.
- Attend briefings, hearings, and events in Washington, DC and virtually, and report key takeaways.
- Participate in team meetings, coalition calls, and internal events.
Required profile
- Strong writing, communication, and computer skills.
- Research experience in an academic or professional setting (e.g., literature reviews, legal or policy research).
- Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks.
- Commitment to gender equity, economic justice, and the organization’s mission.
- Understanding of how poverty and racial justice intersect with economic issues.
- Must be a senior college student by Fall 2026 and seeking a learning opportunity in policy advocacy.
Required skills
What we offer
- Hourly compensation of $17.95 (increasing to $18.40 after July 1, 2026).
- Flexible schedule: part‑time (15‑25 hrs/week) or full‑time (26‑37.5 hrs/week) from September to December.
