Executive Communications Director – External Communications (US Wealth Management)

About the role

J.P. Morgan Wealth Management is seeking an experienced communications professional to lead external communications for its US Wealth Management business. Reporting to the Head of External and Executive Communications, you will shape the external narrative, partner with senior leaders, and enhance the firm’s reputation across media and stakeholder audiences.

Key responsibilities

• Act as counsel to senior executives, shaping external messaging and preparing talking points, presentations, and other communication tools.
• Research, distill, and translate complex financial data into clear, compelling narratives.
• Design and execute external media relations strategies, including PR campaigns, press events, and executive visibility initiatives.
• Collaborate with firm‑wide communications, legal, risk, and compliance partners to ensure alignment of messaging and adherence to controls.
• Lead and mentor a team of communications professionals, fostering a high‑performance, collaborative culture.
• Build relationships with senior leaders, functional partners, and external media to protect and enhance the firm’s reputation.

Required profile

• 10+ years of corporate communications experience with a commercial focus, preferably in financial services.
• Proven ability to advise senior executives and exercise sound judgment with the highest ethical standards.
• Extensive experience managing external and media relations, including PR campaign development.
• Strong collaborative skills and ability to navigate complex organizational structures.

Required skills

• Proficiency in PowerPoint and other presentation tools for creating executive‑level decks.
